Meet Dayton, our Head Instructor and founder of Hawaiian Pickleball Hui. Coming from a Racquetball background, Dayton got introduced to Pickleball in October of 2014. Should I say anymore! He's been an absolute addict ever since. He plays daily when he's not working out at sea. He is currently a Captain on a Tug boat that takes cargo in between the Hawaiian Islands. That takes him away from his passion of playing & teaching Pickleball every other month. When he is in town you can find him almost daily at his home Pickleball courts at Ft. DeRussy in waikīkī though he will be spotted at just about every other Pickleball courts on the Island.
Though not a big tournament player, He will from time to time play in a select few local tournaments for the fun and social atmosphere.
As an avid Pickleball player since being introduced to the game in late 2014, Dayton has learned how to play the game through determination and self study with the intent to always improve or work on technique and skills every time he steps out on the court. He has had to learn Pickleball the hard way as back in 2014 the sport was definitely not as popular as it is today and composite paddles was still in its infancy. Wooden paddles were all they had and "YouTube" and "google" did not have the Plethora of information that can be found on-line today to help players to fully understand the game and how to play it properly with winning strategies. Although there is a lot of information to be found on-line some being good and some being bad, there is no replacement for having an instructor teach you the basics with good technique and a solid foundation to build upon.
Dayton specializes in Beginner & Intermediate lessons helping players to build a rock solid foundation and proper techniques that will help them excel further and faster. As a PPR Certified Pickleball Instructor Dayton will not only ensure you have a fun time but will make sure you leave his lessons with solid foundational skills & techniques that you can build upon to become the best player you can possibly be.
